Ashdown Rambling Club
The Ashdown Rambling Club, based in East Grinstead, West Sussex, was founded in 1961 by five enthusiastic local walkers. In 1962 the club became affiliated to the Ramblers' Association and presently has a membership of about 110. We are a friendly group with no age limits and non-members are welcome to come along for two walks before joining.Despite the club name, our walks are not limited to the Ashdown Forest. We cover a wide area of Surrey, Kent and Sussex. We have a morning walk on Wednesdays and a longer walk on both Wednesdays and Sundays.
Almost all our walks are circular and at the end of most walks we enjoy a cup of tea with cakes or biscuits.
The morning walks are approximately 5 miles finishing between noon and 1pm. The longer walks average 8/9 miles, maybe a bit more in Summer with the longer days. We take a picnic lunch. In the Winter the walks are usually finished by mid-afternoon, about 2:30/3pm. In the Summer the walks may finish a bit later especially if we travel a little farther.
The location of the parking place for the walk and start time will be given on the Walks Programme.
Please see Events page for additional walks and events.
